Your eyes have muscles that can get sore when held in the same position for too long, just like any other muscle in your body. Give your eye muscles a break now and then for improved eye health. Your eyes will be thankful for it in the future.

By doing even just a few of the following exercises, you can boost your productivity, reduce headaches and mistakes and also decreases your risk of glaucoma. You can even fit these exercises into a busy schedule, so you have no excuse not to do them!

Best Eye Exercises To Improve Eyesight:

Palming
Rub the palms of your hands together firmly until they are warm and then place them lightly over your eyelids. Let the warmth from your palms transfer to your eyes. Feel your eye muscles relax as your eyes find comfort in the warm darkness. Continue until the heat from your hands has been fully absorbed by your eyes. Repeat two to three times or until you feel calm and relaxed.

Blinking
Sit comfortably with your eyes open and blink quickly 10 to 15 times. Then, close your eyes and relax for at least half a minute. Repeat this four to five times.

Zooming
Another useful exercise for your eyes is called zooming. As you may have guessed by the name, you zoom in on an object with your eyes to shift the focus of your vision. You can do this by sitting on a chair with your one arm stretched out with its thumb up. Then, bend your arm gradually and draw your thumb closer to your eyes to zoom it in and out of focus.

Shifting
This exercise is all about rotating your eyeballs from one direction to another. Start by looking to the right corner and then shift your gaze slowly and gradually to the opposite side. Your small eye muscles get more activity through the spurt of blood pumped from this shifting motion, bringing more oxygen to them.

Figure Eight
Sit with your legs straight in front of your body with your left hand on your left knee. Hold your right fist above your right knee, with your elbow straight and your thumb pointing upwards. Hold your head still while focusing your eyes on your thumb. Draw a figure eight with your thumb while keeping your elbow straight the whole time. Repeat this exercise about five times both in a clockwise and anti-clockwise direction. Next, repeat the process with your left thumb about five times as well.

While these techniques can help maintain your eye health, only an eye doctor can accurately assess the state of your eyes and provide you with the necessary care. To ensure your eyes are healthy, book an eye exam at Complete Optical in Mississauga.
